Risk in an HR context is most often perceived incorrectly. However, what HR should really focus on is ‘People Risk’. People risk should be viewed as a risk the organisation may have to face as a result of employees being absent at work or due to hindrances to their productivity.

These people risks cannot be eliminated, nevertheless they can most certainly be mitigated. Firstly what is important is to clearly understand how much an organisation may have to invest to ensure this phenomenon is avoided. HR people can then work with this investment the organisation is willing to make, to develop programmes to make sure employees perform better within the organisation.

Organisations using Enterprise Social technologies are able to double their productivity levels through better communication and collaboration. However, presently only 3% of the companies are using these technologies to its full potential and benefitting from them.
