For those who do not know about gamification, in simple words, gamification is basically the concept of integrating game-like function and processes into non-gaming activities. HR gamification has now become the trend in the corporate world as it has been rapidly evolving during the past six months.

During the year 2013, most organisations made use of social technologies for the purpose of recruitment. The research firm, Gartner, saw a number of them leveraging game mechanics as a tool to drive higher levels of business performance. Now, during the year of 2014, Gartner predicts that 40 percent of global Fortune 1,000 companies will soon use gamification as their primary method to transform their business processes.

Due to the use of this Social HR application, gamification applications increasingly are being seriously evaluated for their ability to engage and get more productivity out of employees, replacing traditional notions of employee appraisals, rewards and recognition, knowledge sharing and learning.

Onboarding and Training & Development of employees are other key drivers fueling this trend. Since all organisations are looking at every possible way to enrich employee training methodologies from traditional training methodologies itself, gamification engages learners by creating memorable experiences.

Gamification in the workplace is not only about using badges, mission, leaderboards, etc. Instead, gamification is the strategy about truly understanding the employees you are trying to engage, what motivates them, and how gamification can change the way they work, communicate and innovate with peers and customers.
