Technology took over the business world by a storm and that storm did some damages down the line as well. Things took a turn as the changes started coming through, and in that process things started to look different. What HR was 10 to 20 year ago is not what it is today, because back then things seemed simpler when an algorithm didn’t have control over every process. Although is your HR software the problem? Or are we so concentrated on technology that we forgot the human element that still exists within the workplace. People center HR, and its core values and strategies that revolves around it, HRIS/HR software is a mere support system. So, when the support takes control, there’s a chance that you might lose your people in the mix, that makes your workplace what it is. Experiences make up a large part of the future, and it is important to give priority where necessary to get the best of what’s to come.

A wowing first impression

When you think of first impressions, most organisations invest time and effort on the first few days of induction. Spending time creating presentations and interactive emails that will keep every new joiner informed of everything they are supposed to know. But how many of us think of the time in between when they are sitting at their desk going through the same documents until training starts or until real work comes in. That’s the window that calls for a lasting first impression that will really promote your organisation as an employer that really cares. So instead of filling up emails full of policy documents and having the new employees sit through long boring presentations, make it a tech experience. Open up your HRIS or HR software for them to explore on their own. Upload all those HR documents on your HRIS to get everyone engaged in one platform. Create your very own onboarding experience in a virtual world in the form of a welcome center that does not leave anyone feeling out of place.

Get HR and Tech to fit into the same page

HRIS is the ultimate collaboration, although does that always mean that the people using it feel the same way? HR has and always will be a people’s game and when tech came through, things took a bit of a lonely hostile outlook with just a mechanical communication line going through. How interactive you make your HRIS experience depends on the level of engagement that you would like for your organisation. Every HR platform is built to create a pleasant user-friendly experience to every user. Although, that is just a programmed solution and adding in your own organisation’s flair becomes a part of your organisation’s originality and personality. Interactions, communication and collaboration builds sustainable experiences. And the efforts should not just stop at HR, because HRIS has the two letters within it. Every interacting department has the responsibility of adding into the mutual experience that is being built within the HR platform. Toughest barriers preventing HR and IT from collaborating effectively are cited to be 34% “lack of mutual understanding”, 32% blamed a “lack of common objectives/key performance indicators” and 19% “the other party is not interested in collaboration”. So IT being the next most relevant element, makes it one of the most important contributors to building experience. It will also help, if the future recruits come with an IT background, because the future is mostly tech dominant in every aspect.

A fulfilling work experience is what every employee looks for in their career path. Identifying opportunities, learning and being exposed to new and exciting ways to further in the journey is the ultimate goal. With many different generations joining in, the requirements change over time, and accommodating them in the correct, appropriate and timely manner becomes HR’s responsibility. Technology plays a huge part of this equation as HR software take over the process line completely. Although this should not be the reason that limits the employee experience. Employees want to be empowered and encouraged, pushed to new limits in ways that imposes self-development. It’s a workstyle that gets everyone involved in the dynamic work environment. HR software becomes the foundation on which an empire of experiences can be build on, when used the right way, creating meaning by way of collaboration.
