The hype of a new year comes with many different elements to different people. Some are excited to start over, some look forward to new changes or resolutions, some are just excited to see what’s new with the world. Every year changes drastically for all of us around the world, with the power of technology. So time at home or walking into work looks much different to everyone, in a sense that you will never be alone. There will be a voice commanded device that will assist you in some way, that is of course if you chose to bring them to your home or work. Although organisations in 2019 will be much different to those in 2018, with the additions that will be making its way with technology. These new gadgets and applications will make it harder for anyone to resist change and have a comforting satisfaction in making work and life in general a breezy one.
Chat apps over Emails
Day to day essentials get a new level of convenience with the New Year, as many look at chat applications to replace emails. Therefore, instead of checking your email on your commute or as the first thing you do when you come to work, you will be on a casual chat with someone. Although this is still a on the rise, 2019 might just be the year that you drop a chat message to your manager about work. As casual and new as this may sounds to some, there are times in the common practice that we deviate from an email to a text message or chat for certain urgent or special situations. This may not be an immediate change, as only 16% of IT professionals believe collaborative chat apps will replace email. Slowly but surely, it will make its way in to the workplace soon.
Security of smart things
With everything being connected to the internet, things can get unsafe, really fast. Instead of having multiple applications protect every device, expect one single platform to be the guard of it all, by being within the router that connects every device to danger through Wi-Fi. So more emphasis goes on internet security as the tech world connects everything to the internet for convenience. Although no one said convenience brings danger, they got it covered before it all goes out of hand. If you didn’t make the switch in the fears of running into danger, 2019 might be the year for you to step into the game, safely.
More A.I
Of course, the giant of the tech industry that just took the world by a storm, continues to live on disrupting everything in a good way. In the New Year, the developments that were seen rising will really come to life and continue its journey forward. The biggest difference this year would be that employees and consumers will really start to notice the impact of AI in their daily activities. Streamlining processes and changing the businesses, AI will take over and continue to add great structure to the business world. According to the 2019 State of Future Workplace Tech report, nearly 30% of enterprises with over 1,000 employees are currently using AI-powered security solutions and is expected to increase more than 60% by 2020.
IOT at work
Internet of Things that quite simply means exactly what it sounds like, takes to the workplace this New Year. So this means the voice assistants that became all the hype last year hits your organisation. Bringing in a rather new tone to the usual work atmosphere this not only gives new life and energy to businesses but also poses a rather significant threat in a foreseeable increase in cyber-crimes. Which in turn means that employers will be on the hunt for cyber security roles that can prevent the organisation from reaching harm’s way. Opening up new opportunities within a constantly growing and large segment of the tech industry.
Apart from these highlights of the year, there are still areas that have a hype around it going forward to the New Year. Virtual Reality and Self-Driving Cars made the hype list but are still in early stages that make them premature to really outshine the stars of 2019. They are still making its way to the main stage, with little steps for good reasons. VR was a hit but did not make the huge breakthrough it was meant to, and Self-driving Cars are still going through many tests for obvious reasons that ensure security over all. So as we move toward the future, we embrace something old, something new, something borrowed and something cool in the tech world. Hoping for yet another colorful and amazing 365 days ahead.
